AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO COORDINATE AND ASSIST IN DEPLOYMENT OF TELEHEALTH PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE STATE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to contract with a qualified nonprofit organization with demonstrated expertise in the knowledge and coordination of clinical services delivery and technical support for telehealth programs that will coordinate implementation of telehealth projects, coordinate clinical delivery of services, identify both clinical and technological gaps in rural health care delivery systems and provide meaningful information to the department of health, the New Mexico telehealth commission and the legislature on the state of telehealth technology in the state. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
