A MEMORIAL
REQUESTING THE CITY OF SANTA FE TO SET ALL CONTROLLER UNITS
THAT ARE PART OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL ASSEMBLIES FOR SIGNAL
COORDINATION FOR A CONTINUOUS MOVEMENT OF TRAFFIC AT A
DEFINITE SPEED.
WHEREAS, traffic volumes in Santa Fe are getting worse;
and
WHEREAS, such volumes pose significant safety hazards;
and
WHEREAS, many municipalities have found that
synchronizing traffic signals regularly allows for a
continuous flow of traffic, a reduction in traffic accidents
and other contributions to traffic safety;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the city of
Santa Fe be requested to set all controller units that are
part of traffic signal control assemblies for signal
coordination for a continuous movement of traffic at a
definite speed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the signal controller units
be monitored at least every eighteen months; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
transmitted to the mayor of Santa Fe.
