A MEMORIAL
PROCLAIMING MARCH 5, 2007 THROUGH MARCH 11, 2007 TO BE "POSTAL
CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARENESS WEEK" AND DECLARING LEGISLATIVE
SUPPORT FOR THE AMERICAN POSTAL WORKERS UNION OF NEW MEXICO'S
ENDEAVOR TO IMPROVE MAIL DELIVERY AND SERVICE THROUGHOUT THE
STATE OF NEW MEXICO.
WHEREAS, the American postal workers union of New Mexico
is an advocacy organization performing a valuable service for
its members and communities; and
WHEREAS, the American postal workers union of New Mexico
recognizes the importance of postal services to the cities and
small towns in the state of New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, the standards of mail delivery and service have
dramatically deteriorated in New Mexico over the past five
years, resulting in long waiting lines at retail windows, late
night delivery, nondelivery or delayed mail delivery; and
WHEREAS, by drawing attention to the importance of
customer service at the United States postal service as well
as in the public domain, the American postal workers union of
New Mexico hopes to improve the quality of mail service and
delivery in the state; and
WHEREAS, the remarkable awareness created thus far is a
direct result of the American postal workers union of New
Mexico's advocacy and dedication to the citizenry of New

Mexico;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that it support the
American postal workers union of New Mexico's endeavor to
improve mail delivery and service throughout the state of New
Mexico and hereby proclaim March 5, 2007 through March 11,
2007 to be "Postal Customer Service Awareness Week" in the
house of representatives; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the advocacy, dedication and
service provided by the American postal workers union of New
Mexico for and on behalf of the people of New Mexico is
important in maintaining high-quality mail service to its
citizens; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
transmitted to the members of the New Mexico congressional
delegation and to the American postal workers union of New
Mexico.
