A MEMORIAL
REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY
AND COST OF THE OPERATION OF A MOBILE DENTAL HEALTH CLINIC.
WHEREAS, there is a shortage of dental health care
professionals throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, New Mexicans, especially those in rural areas,
have difficulty finding and receiving dental health care; and
WHEREAS, dental health care is important to a person's
overall health and well-being;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the department
of health be requested to conduct a feasibility and cost study
of the procurement and operation of mobile dental health
clinics, including a determination of which geographical areas
of the state would most benefit from the operation of mobile
dental health clinics; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the department of health
report the findings and conclusions of its study to the
legislative health and human services committee by October 1,
2007; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
transmitted to the secretary of health, the New Mexico
legislative council and the legislative health and human
services committee.
