SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 20 appropriates $60 thousand from the general fund to the Public Education
Department for the purpose of contracting with a nonprofit organization to provide teacher
training and in-class mentors and to integrate hands-on science techniques into the standard
curriculum in Santa Fe.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Additional resources to develop an RFP, review proposals and provide financial oversight would
be required. The department estimates an additional $2.6 thousand would be required. It appears
the department should be able to absorb the additional cost with existing resources.
The appropriation of $60 thousand contained in this bill is a nonrecurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall
revert to the general fund.
