SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 230 makes an Appropriation for Acequia Governance Education, Training and Tech-
nical Assistance.
HB 230 would appropriate $500,000 from the general fund to the Local Government Division of
the Department of Finance and Administration for expenditure in FY08 for acequia governance
education, training, and technical assistance. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remain-
ing at the end of fiscal year 2008 would revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Office of State Engineer reports there are no significant issues related to this bill. OSE/ISC
staffs currently provide assistance to acequias and community ditches when requested regarding
the adoption and implementation of bylaws, rules, regulations, and technical issues.

Additional assistance available to acequias as the result of this bill in governance education and
technical assistance in preparing by-laws, obtaining tax identification numbers, and preparing a
scope of work for spending funds would expedite the ISC Acequia Program process.
