SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 327 changes school year reporting dates from the fortieth, eightieth and one hundred
twentieth days to specific days in the calendar year and provides for the first year
implementation.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Although the bill does not contain an appropriation it is important to note that a number of
schools do not report on the same day due to differences in district or charter school calendars.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Public School Funding Formula Task Force may be proposing significant changes to the
public school funding formula. Changing the dates when school districts and charter schools
report on their student membership may be one of the changes that help improve the overall
effectiveness of the way New Mexico funds its public schools.
