SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 452,
Making an Appropriation for Increased Compensation for District Attorneys and Staff,
appropriates a total of four million six hundred thirteen thousand one-hundred eighty-one dollars
($4,613,181) from the GENERAL FUND to the Administrative Office of the District Attorneys
for the purpose of pay increases for attorneys and staff.
District attorneys would receive a 15 percent pay increase at a cost of $2,770.6 million and
district attorney permanent staff would receive a 9 percent pay increase at a cost of $1,842.5
million.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The General Appropriation Act recommends a total of 7 percent for district attorney staff
attorney pay increase and 5 percent for all other staff.

LFC staff note that the amount listed in this bill is not enough for a 15 percent pay increase.
The appropriation of $4.6 million contained in this bill is a RECURRING expense to the
GENERAL FUND. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FISCAL
YEAR 2008 shall revert to the GENERAL FUND.
