SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
HB 487 amends Section 1-22-6 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1985, Chapter 168, Section 8, as
amended) requiring Municipalities and School Districts to use the same location as the polling
place used for that precinct or consolidated precinct in the State’s General Election.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
LFC files note that a consistent location may benefit voters if polling places used for municipali-
ties and school districts elections are kept the same as those used for the state general election.
OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES
The Secretary of State reported that HB 487 does not apply to the Office of the Secretary of
State.
POSSIBLE QUESTIONS
How will this improve the process for municipalities and school districts.
