SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 492 adds Union Representation on the Group Benefits Committee
HB 492 would update the Group Benefits Committee membership statute to authorize gubernato-
rial appointment to the Group Benefits Committee in compliance with the Public Employees
Bargaining Act (NMSA 10-7E-1 et seq.).
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Group Benefits Committee created in Section 19-7B-3 NMSA 1978 has nine members and
does not require union representation. HB 492 would add membership to track with union con-
tract provisions. This committee advises the Risk Management Division (RMD) of the General
Services Department (GSD) on matters related to employee group benefits.
