SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 544 appropriates $100.0 from the general fund to the Department of Military Affairs
– Crisis Response Program for the purpose of providing a drug demand reduction program
through the civil air patrol cadet program for at-risk middle and high school students.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $100.0 contained in this bill is a non-recurring expense to the general fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert
to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
DMA states lack of funding could jeopardize the future of an excellent civil air patrol cadet pro-
gram.

PERFORMANCE IMPLICATIONS
DMA’s performance measure “percent of cadets successfully graduating from the youth chal-
lenge academy" had a fiscal year 2006 actual of 97 percent.
