SUMMARY
Synopsis of HEC Amendment
The House Education Amendment to House Bill 905 provides that the grant-writer will be
housed at New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU), makes technical changes to language,
removes NMHU as one of the institutions the grant writer will serve and adds Luna Community
College to the list of institutions served.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
It is unclear as to the reason NMHU will not be served by this grant writer but will house the
position.
Synopsis of Original Bill
House Bill 905 appropriates $75 thousand from the general fund to Public Education Department
for the purpose of funding a grant-writer position to serve the two school districts in Las Vegas,
