SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 1048 appropriates $100 thousand from the general fund to the New Mexico Higher
Education Department for the purpose of funding the Rough Riders baseball program at Luna
Community College.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $100 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY08 shall revert to the
general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Luna Community College (LCC) baseball team, the Rough Riders, currently has 37 mem-
bers. HED reports 29 games are scheduled between January 27, 2007 and May 6, 2007. Nine-
teen of these games are played out of state in various cities in Arizona, Colorado, and Texas.
