committees of the NM Legislature. The LFC does not assume responsibility for the accuracy of these reports
if they are used for other purposes.
Current FIRs (in HTML & Adobe PDF formats) are a vailable on the NM Legislative Website (legis.state.nm.us).
Adobe PDF versions include all attachments, whereas HTML versions may not. Previously issued FIRs and
attachments may be obtained from the LFC in Suite 101 of the State Capitol Building North.

SUMMARY
Synopsis of HAFC Amendment
The amendments adopted by the House appropriations and Finance Committee require that the
results of actions taken by conference committees shall first report to a standing committee in
their respective houses.
Synopsis of HJC Amendment
The House Judiciary Amendment adds the term “stated" on page 2, line to require that
conference committees may be closed to the public pursuant to state statutes and “for good cause
stated upon a vote of the committee."
Synopsis of Original Bill
House Concurrent Resolution provides that conference committee meetings shall be open to the
public; provided that conference committee meetings may be closed to the public pursuant to the
exceptions stated in Subsection B of Section 10-15-2 NMSA 1978 or for good cause upon a vote
of the committee. The time and place of open conference committee meetings shall be
announced on the public address system and posted at the speaker's and the president pro
tempore's offices.
