Synopsis of Bill
House Joint Memorial 41 requests that the Legislature of the State of New Mexico congratulate
United Parcel Service of America, Inc., on its centennial anniversary and that it recognizes its
contributions to the residents of New Mexico. Furthermore, this bill requests that a copy of this
memorial be transmitted to the United Parcel Service corporate office.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
On August 28, 2007, the United Parcel Service will celebrate its one hundredth anniversary;
United Parcel Service has served New Mexico since 1972 and today employs over one thousand
three hundred thirty people and operates twenty-four facilities across the state;
Each day, over four thousand New Mexicans use the express delivery and specialized
transportation and logistics services that United Parcel Service provides;
United Parcel Service delivers approximately seventy-seven thousand two hundred fifty packages
every day to customers across the state to connect people, businesses and communities;
The services United Parcel Service provides connects the people of New Mexico to more than
two hundred countries through its expansive transportation network that truly synchronizes global
commerce;

The United Parcel Service has contributed more than five hundred ten thousand dollars
($510,000) to philanthropic endeavors in New Mexico since 1995, reflecting the company's
emphasis on community service and citizenship and,
The United Parcel Service will continue to provide a substantial economic impact to New Mexico
and focus on cultivating deep partnerships with the communities it serves;
