Synopsis of Bill
The House Joint Memorial 57 recognizes the importance of the “Power is in Your Hands"
campaign for winter energy efficiency.
The memorial recognizes the Alliance to Save Energy for its good work.
Furthermore the memorial encourages all New Mexicans to examine ways they may save costs
and energy through home improvement.

There is no fiscal implication
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The "power is in your hands" campaign has issued the "six degrees of energy efficiency
challenge" that requests members of the public to pledge to make small changes that result in
huge differences collectively in energy consumption.
Energy-efficient homes can save money for those who live in them and can contribute to a
collective reduction in use of energy.

The alliance to save energy, a team of more than thirty partners, is staging an energy efficiency
home makeover at the home of a low-income family on February 22, 2007.
The willingness of private partners working with governments to lower individual and collective
energy use and energy costs is to be commended.
