committees of the NM Legislature. The LFC does not assume responsibility for the accuracy of these reports
if they are used for other purposes.
Current FIRs (in HTML & Adobe PDF formats) are a vailable on the NM Legislative Website (legis.state.nm.us).
Adobe PDF versions include all attachments, whereas HTML versions may not. Previously issued FIRs and
attachments may be obtained from the LFC in Suite 101 of the State Capitol Building North.

Synopsis of Bill
The memorial calls for a study of the extent of the need for probation services in the magistrate
courts, and to explore methods for addressing the need.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The memorial will have an indirect fiscal impact on the Administrative Office of the Courts and
other agencies involved in the study, which must utilize existing resources to conduct the study.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The magistrate courts are in need of probation or compliance services, for all the reasons
expressed in the memorial.
PERFORMANCE IMPLICATIONS
The courts are participating in performance-based budgeting. It is unknown if enactment of this
