SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 88 appropriates $100,000 to the Board of Regents of Western New Mexico Univer-
sity (WNMU) in FY 2008 to fund planning and implementation of a Basic Economic Develop-
ment Course (BEDC) in Mexico.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $100,000 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the General Fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY 2008 shall revert to the
General Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
This appropriation is for planning and implementation of this course in Mexico. Funds will be
utilized for marketing, travel arrangements, hiring instructors and translators, and materials. Pro-
gram will begin in Juarez, Mexico and will branch out to at least two of four other cities in Mex-
ico in the next year.
