SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 658 appropriates $989.0 to provide aerial photography for geographic information
systems for Lea County.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $980.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the General Fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY08 shall revert to the Gen-
eral Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
DFA commented that a statewide fly-over funded by a combination of local, state, and federal
funding was done in 2005. The goal is to do the entire state every five years. DFA reports that
the bill's appropriation of $980.0 is excessive and that it could be done for less than $100.0. Ac-
cording to DFA, the last statewide aerial fly-over cost $3.5 million for the entire state.
