SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 712 appropriates $25.0 from the General Fund to DFA to support the Taos mountain
balloon rally.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $25.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the General Fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY08 shall revert to the General
Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
DFA reports that the Taos Mountain Balloon Rally has been struggling the past few years.
However, there is local community support to revive it. This year the rally will celebrate its 25
th
anniversary and will increase the number of balloons from 50 to 75. The appropriation will be
used to promote the event and expand services.

WHAT WILL BE THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT ENACTING THIS BILL
DFA reports that not enacting SB 712 may not give the Taos Mountain Balloon Rally the
funding to promote and expand services. This could cause the event to be discontinued.
