SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 872
expands the use of the county clerks recording fees by adding vehicles as an
allowable expense.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
There is no fiscal impact. The bill merely gives more flexibility to the county clerks.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
Currently, the county clerks are allowed to spend the proceeds of the recording fee on renting,
purchasing, leasing or lease-purchasing equipment. The proposed amendment allows for renting,
purchasing, leasing or lease-purchasing of vehicles associated with recording, filing, maintaining
or reproducing documents in the county clerk's office.
DFA believes this proposed amendment enables county clerks to perform their duties in more
efficient and expedient manner.
