SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 925 creates a firefighter day of remembrance each year on September 11.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
If the legislature intends September 11 of each year to be a day to remember and honor
firefighters in our thoughts with special ceremonies and in educational programs in the schools,
the provisions of this bill can be handled within existing budgets.
If the bill is meant to make September 11 a formal holiday for the State then the costs will be
much higher as there will be one less working day each year.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The legislature wishes to celebrate the important, brave and compassionate work of firefighters
and honor all firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty.
TECHNICAL ISSUES
The bill does not specify what a “day of remembrance" means.
