SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 1018 appropriates $500 thousand from the general fund to the Human Services
Department for the purpose of increasing the number of participants in the Education Works
Program.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $500 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of Fiscal Year 2008 shall
revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
Currently there are 500 EWP slots available for FY07 based on a $2 million budget. During
FY06 the monthly average of participants was 393 households. The total was $1,754,888.
During the traditional school year the need for EWP slots increase. As of January 2007, there
are 390 participants in the EWP.
