A MEMORIAL

HONORING BRIAN KEITH URLACHER, MIDDLE LINEBACKER OF THE CHICAGO

BEARS AND FORMER UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO AND LOVINGTON HIGH

SCHOOL FOOTBALL STAR.

WHEREAS, Brian Urlacher, "monster of the midway", captured

the attention and the hearts of many a New Mexican as he

entered the national football league's biggest game, super bowl

forty-one in 2007; and

WHEREAS, Brian Urlacher was national football league

defensive player of the year in 2006; and

WHEREAS, New Mexicans invest their pride in the great

"Url" and his feats on the field and especially appreciate his

enthusiastic recognition of his New Mexico roots; and

WHEREAS, Brian Urlacher, admired and respected at his alma

mater Lovington high school when he led the wildcats to a 1995

class 3A championship, became a full-fledged hero after

donating forty thousand dollars ($40,000) for the Lovington

high school weight room and agreed to provide shoes for all

Lovington varsity players; and

WHEREAS, Brian Urlacher has returned his fame and fortune

to New Mexico through a one-million-dollar ($1,000,000) indoor

practice facility at the university of New Mexico; and

WHEREAS, Brian Urlacher has returned to participate in

charity basketball games in Lovington for the past three years;

and

WHEREAS, Brian Urlacher also has held annual summer camps

at the university of New Mexico, speaks on behalf of the

university of New Mexico program, gave an early donation of ten

thousand dollars ($10,000) to the university's Lobo club for

the football program and donated a twenty-three-thousand-five-

hundred-dollar ($23,500) prize he won to special Olympics of

New Mexico; and

WHEREAS, New Mexicans can be proud both of Brian

Urlacher's prowess and accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, all New Mexicans can benefit from Brian

Urlacher's exemplary attitude, taking pride in New Mexico and

investing in his home state;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF

REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Brian Urlacher

be recognized as a true favorite son of New Mexico; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Brian Urlacher be thanked for

his tremendous generosity and congratulated on his many

accomplishments; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be

transmitted to Brian Urlacher and to each of his children, to

Lovington high school and to the university of New Mexico

football program.
