A JOINT RESOLUTION
GRANTING PRIOR APPROVAL TO SELL LAND IN DONA ANA COUNTY TO THE
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY CUSTOMS AND
BORDER PROTECTION.
WHEREAS, Section 13-6-3 NMSA 1978 requires ratification
and approval of a sale, a trade or a lease for a period
exceeding twenty-five years of state property that is valued at
one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) or more; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico office of homeland security has
requested that the land be sold to the United States department
of homeland security customs and border protection; and
WHEREAS, the proposed sale would allow the United States
department of homeland security customs and border protection
to acquire sufficient land adjacent to its Santa Teresa station
to relocate the national special operations headquarters in New

Mexico; and
WHEREAS, the general services department has title to the
land in Dona Ana county; and
WHEREAS, the land is described as Township 29S Range 2E;
Section 2;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the property control division of the
general services department be authorized to sell the described
land at a value not less than the appraised market value as
determined by the taxation and revenue department; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sale be contingent upon
federal approval, if required; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be
transmitted to the general services department and the
department of public safety.
