FOR THE COURTS, CORRECTIONS AND JUSTICE COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO REPLACE FUNDS AND RESOURCES FOR DRUG COURTS AND TO EXPAND AND CREATE DRUG COURTS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the administrative office of the courts for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 for the following purposes:

                (1) two hundred six thousand eight hundred dollars ($206,800) to replace funds and resources for the adult drug court in the twelfth judicial district and the juvenile drug court in the thirteenth judicial district;

                (2) one million twenty-six thousand dollars ($1,026,000) to expand family, juvenile and adult drug courts in the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, seventh, eighth, eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth judicial districts; and

                (3) one million one hundred forty-four thousand five hundred dollars ($1,144,500) to create juvenile drug courts in the eighth and eleventh judicial districts, adult drug courts in the fourth and thirteenth judicial districts and a family drug court in the thirteenth judicial district.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
