A MEMORIAL
DECLARING JANUARY 22, 2008 AS "JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT DAY" AT THE
LEGISLATURE.
WHEREAS, junior achievement of New Mexico is celebrating
its fifteenth year of operation during the 2008 calendar
year; and
WHEREAS, the organization is dedicated to educating
students in kindergarten through twelfth grade about
entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy
through hands-on programs; and
WHEREAS, junior achievement of New Mexico has expanded
its activities to include a variety of classroom-based,
after-school settings and capstone experiences, as well as
special initiatives for Native American and Hispanic students
throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, more than one hundred fifteen thousand students
have benefited from the organization's programs over the last
fifteen years; and
WHEREAS, junior achievement of New Mexico volunteers
inspire and empower students to believe in themselves,
showing them that they can make a difference in the world;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE
STATE OF NEW MEXICO that, in recognition of junior achievement
of New Mexico's service to the youth of the state, January 22,
