SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 207 appropriates $50 thousand from the general fund to the Public Education
Department for the training and professional development of teachers in Los Lunas.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $50 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall
revert to the general fund.
Funding for professional development is included in the state equalization guarantee distribution
for schools. Additional funding of $4.5 million for professional development is included in the
General Appropriations Act.
The LFC remains concerned with funding initiatives outside of the funding formula as it tends to
disequalize school funding and diverts funding away from core educational needs.
