SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 507 appropriates $30 thousand from the general fund to Economic Development
Department to support the creation of a film office for the city of Gallup that will promote and
package information on Gallup and the surrounding area for film location managers and scouts.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $30 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall
revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
According to EDD, the creation of a Gallup film office would further promote the western region
of New Mexico to filmmakers. Having professional representation in distant regions better
serves location managers and scouts, and supports the state film office in their efforts to market
all corners of the state to filmmakers.
