SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 96, Making an Appropriation for Services in Dona Ana County for Nonviolent,
Mentally Ill Misdemeanor Detainees in Dona Ana County, appropriates $180 thousand from the
general fund to DFA for the purpose of providing shelter, medications and assessment for
nonviolent, mentally ill in Dona Ana.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $180 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY09 shall revert to the
general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
SB 96 appropriates $180 thousand from the general fund to the Local Government Division of
the Department of Finance and Administration for expenditures in FY09 to provide shelter,
medications and assessment for nonviolent, mentally ill misdemeanor detainees in Dona Ana
County.
