SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 426 appropriates $75,000 from the general fund to the Aging and Long Term
Services Department for expenditure in FY09 to contract for services for the operation of a
clubhouse for individuals with traumatic or acquired brain injuries. Any unexpended funds
remaining at the end of FY09 shall revert to the general fund.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
ALTSD notes that this request was not included in the ALTSD FY09 operating budget request.
The most likely recipient for this funding is the Brain Injury Clubhouse in Albuquerque. The
clubhouse has apparently not received prior state funding and the funds will be used to hire or
contract for staff. As the proposed funding exceeds the $50,000 cap on non-competitive
professional services, the services envisioned by the appropriation will need to be procured
through the RFP process.
