AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR COSTS OF THE 2008 GENERAL ELECTION; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million six hundred thirty-seven thousand four hundred dollars ($1,637,400) is appropriated from the general fund to the secretary of state for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to pay the costs of the 2008 general election. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
