FOR THE COURTS, CORRECTIONS AND JUSTICE COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NEW MEXICO SENTENCING COMMISSION FOR TECHNOLOGY, DATA AND PERSONNEL TO MEASURE THE FISCAL IMPACT OF LEGISLATION THAT MODIFIES OR CREATES NEW CRIMINAL PENALTIES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred seventy-six thousand five hundred dollars ($176,500) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico sentencing commission for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 to obtain necessary computer models, technology, research and data and to hire personnel to generate fiscal impact reports that measure the fiscal impact on the corrections department of legislation that modifies or creates new criminal penalties. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
