FOR THE WELFARE REFORM OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ENSURE THAT FAMILIES WHO MAKE UP TO TWO HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL ARE ELIGIBLE FOR STATE CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Thirteen million two hundred thousand dollars ($13,200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 for child care assistance as follows:

                (1) five million two hundred thousand dollars ($5,200,000) for families making up to one hundred sixty-five percent of the federal poverty level; and

                (2) eight million dollars ($8,000,000) for families making between one hundred sixty-five percent and two hundred percent of the federal poverty level.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
