AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE NEW MEXICO-GROWN FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FOR SCHOOL LUNCHES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three million three hundred thousand dollars ($3,300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 and subsequent fiscal years for the New Mexico department of agriculture to purchase New Mexico-grown fresh fruits and vegetables, when available, and to administer a program ensuring that the fresh fruits and vegetables are delivered to school meal programs statewide. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
