AN ACT

RELATING TO STATE PROCUREMENT; REQUIRING THE SECRETARY OF GENERAL SERVICES TO MAINTAIN AN ONLINE PUBLIC DATABASE OF STATE CONTRACTS AND CONTRACTORS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of the Procurement Code is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] CONTRACTOR DATABASE.--The secretary shall maintain a current database of all state contracts entered into pursuant to the Procurement Code. The database shall be available to the public on the general service department's online web site and shall be searchable by contractor name, subject matter, date, price or consideration, contract number, amendments and other categories of information that the secretary deems appropriate to fully inform the public about state contracts."

     Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2009.
