AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR AN INVENTORY OF ABANDONED URANIUM MINING SITES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the energy, minerals and natural resources department for expenditure in fiscal years 2010 and 2011 to complete an inventory of abandoned uranium mining sites in New Mexico, to characterize the extent of existing contamination at those sites and to estimate the cost of cleaning up contamination at those sites. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2011 shall revert to the general fund.
