AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SUMMER WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM IN THE CENTRAL NEW MEXICO AREA; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the workforce solutions department for expenditure in fiscal years 2009 and 2010 for the central workforce development board to provide an eight-week summer work experience program for youth ages sixteen to twenty-one in Bernalillo, Torrance, Sandoval and Valencia counties. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
