A JOINT MEMORIAL

ENCOURAGING PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN THE STATE TO STIMULATE THE STUDY OF NEW MEXICO THROUGH CURRICULAR INNOVATIONS, THE REWARDING OF SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY THAT IS DEVOTED TO NEW MEXICO, THE PROVISION OF PUBLICATION OUTLETS AND THE HOSTING OF CONFERENCES AND OTHER SCHOLARLY GATHERINGS.

 

     WHEREAS, there is a relative lack of scholarly attention devoted to the study of New Mexico and its economic, social and governmental structures and policies;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state's public universities be requested to stimulate the study of New Mexico through curricular innovations, the rewarding of scholarly activity that is devoted to New Mexico, the provision of publication outlets and the hosting of conferences and other scholarly gatherings; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of higher education and to the presidents of the state's four-year post-secondary institutions.
