INTRODUCED BY

Tim Eichenberg

A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THAT PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS CONSIDER SALARY INCREASES FOR CLERKS, SECRETARIES, SECRETARY-BOOKKEEPERS AND BOOKKEEPERS IN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS STATEWIDE.

     WHEREAS, unlicensed school employees are invaluable to the daily operation of schools; and

     WHEREAS, clerks, secretaries, secretary-bookkeepers and bookkeepers perform professional services that contribute to the efficient and effective operation of daily school life; and

     WHEREAS, without the work of such talented and experienced school employees, many who have years of dedicated, committed service, school operations would generally suffer; and

     WHEREAS, the senate recognizes that financial situations vary greatly across New Mexico and from school district to school district, and, often, rural districts in particular must set salaries within often limited means, and local salaries may be the most applicable benchmark;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that public school districts be requested to consider salary increases for clerks, secretaries, secretary- bookkeepers and bookkeepers; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the governor and to the secretary of public education.
