A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THAT RECOGNITION BE EXTENDED TO THE CAREER AND TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS OF NEW MEXICO FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE STATE.

 

     WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations are an integral and vital component of career technical education and contribute to a well-developed high school curriculum providing rigor and relevance for academics, work ethic and patriotism; and

     WHEREAS, these student organizations involve an estimated ten thousand students statewide in skill-based educational programs, including classroom instruction, work-based learning and community services; and

     WHEREAS, these student organizations provide leadership development and competitive activities at the local, state, national and international levels; and

     WHEREAS, these student organizations have developed effective partnerships with businesses, trade associations and professional organizations; and

     WHEREAS, these student organizations support the economy by preparing students for the workplace, improving employment opportunities and building students' self-esteem and confidence; and

     WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations include the business professionals of America; distributive education clubs of America; family, career and community leaders of America; health occupations students of America; future farmers of America; skills USA; and the technology student association;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that recognition be extended to the career and technical student organizations of New Mexico for their service to the residents of the state; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the business professionals of America; distributive education clubs of America; family, career and community leaders of America; health occupations students of America; future farmers of America; skills USA; and the technology student association.
