AN ACT

RELATING TO CONTRACTS; DIRECTING ALL STATE AGENCIES TO SUSPEND CONTRACTS THAT ONLY AUGMENT AGENCY EXPERTISE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. TEMPORARY PROVISION--CANCELLING CONTRACTS THAT ONLY AUGMENT AGENCY EXPERTISE.--Before February 1, 2010, each state agency shall suspend, due to insufficient funding, any contract that it determines only augments agency expertise if able to do so without incurring a financial penalty. For the purposes of this section, "state agency" means any office, department, institution, school district, board, commission, court, district attorney, council or committee of state government that receives appropriations pursuant to a general appropriations act. This provision expires January 1, 2012.
