AN ACT

RELATING TO PUBLIC SCHOOL FINANCE; ESTABLISHING A PRIVATE SCHOOL STUDENT ACTIVITIES PROGRAM UNIT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of the Public School Finance Act is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] PRIVATE SCHOOL STUDENT ACTIVITIES PROGRAM UNIT.--The private school student activities program unit for a school district is determined by multiplying the number of private school students who are participating in school district activities governed by the New Mexico activities association by the cost differential factor of 0.1. The private school student activities program unit shall be paid to the school district in which it is generated. A private school student is eligible to participate in three school district activities at the public school in the attendance zone in which the student resides, according to the New Mexico activities association guidelines. A private school student is only permitted to participate in school district activities that the student's private school does not offer. The school district shall verify each private school student's academic eligibility to participate in school district activities."

     SECTION 2. APPLICABILITY.--The provisions of this act apply to the 2011-2012 school year and subsequent school years.
