AN ACT

RELATING TO CONSERVANCY DISTRICTS; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF CHAPTER 73, ARTICLE 16 NMSA 1978 TO PROVIDE FOR LOWER ASSESSMENTS FOR NON-IRRIGATORS IN THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE CONSERVANCY DISTRICT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of Chapter 73, Article 16 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] ASSESSMENTS.--The board of directors of a conservancy district that includes any part of a class A county of a population of five hundred thousand or more according to the most recent federal decennial census shall assess non-irrigators at least one mill less than irrigators."
