AN ACT

RELATING TO CONSERVANCY DISTRICTS; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF CHAPTER 73, ARTICLE 16 NMSA 1978 TO LIMIT ASSESSMENTS OF THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE CONSERVANCY DISTRICT TO NO MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED TEN PERCENT OF ITS ANNUAL EXPENDITURES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of Chapter 73, Article 16 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] ASSESSMENTS.--Total annual assessments of a conservancy district that includes any part of a class A county of a population of five hundred thousand or more according to the most recent federal decennial census shall not exceed one hundred ten percent of its budgeted annual expenditures."
