AN ACT

RELATING TO JUVENILE JUSTICE; PROVIDING THAT AN EMPLOYEE OF THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT SHALL NOT BE DESIGNATED TO SERVE AS CHAIR OR VICE CHAIR OF THE JUVENILE PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY BOARD.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. Section 32A-7A-5 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 2009, Chapter 239, Section 62) is amended to read:

     "32A-7A-5. BOARD--CHAIR.--

          A. The governor shall designate one member of the juvenile public safety advisory board to serve as chair.           B. The chair may designate two members of the board to serve as regional vice chairs.

          C. An employee of the department shall not be designated to serve as chair or vice chair of the board."

     SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2011.
