AN ACT

RELATING TO CHILD CARE; PROVIDING FOR A CHILD CARE REGISTRY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of the Children, Youth and Families Department Act is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] CHILD CARE REGISTRY--WEB SITE.--

          A. The department shall develop and maintain a statewide database that is available on its web site that tracks early childhood educators who are employed by child care centers that participate in state or federal child care assistance programs or participate in state or federal child care assistance programs as licensed family child care providers.

          B. The database shall include for each early childhood educator who meets the requirements of Subsection A of this section:

                (1) the early childhood educator's name;

                (2) the employing child care center's name, address and telephone number;

                (3) whether the early childhood educator has fulfilled the required forty-hour class and the required twenty-four hours of on-site training;

                (4) the number of professional development or relevant training hours accrued by the early childhood educator in the current calendar year;

                (5) the early childhood educator's status; and

                (6) the number of years that the early childhood educator has provided child care."
