AN ACT

RELATING TO CHILD ABUSE; REQUIRING A STUDY TO ADDRESS CHILD ABUSE PROBLEMS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. TEMPORARY PROVISION--STUDY OF CHILD ABUSE PROBLEMS.--The children, youth and families department, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, the administrative office of the district attorneys and child protection and advocacy groups, shall conduct a study of child abuse problems in New Mexico and the services and systems available to address child abuse problems in New Mexico. The study shall include recommendations for ways to minimize, stop and prevent child abuse incidents and their consequences. The children, youth and families department shall report its findings and recommendations to the New Mexico legislative council and the appropriate interim legislative committee on or before November 1, 2011.
