AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CULTURAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT FOR DEVELOPING AND PROMOTING EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL PROGRAMS THAT FOCUS ATTENTION ON THE CENTENNIAL OF NEW MEXICO STATEHOOD; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the cultural affairs department for expenditure in fiscal years 2012 and 2013 to develop and promote educational and cultural programs that focus attention on the centennial of New Mexico statehood. These educational and cultural programs shall be done in coordination with the centennial office and the centennial steering committee. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2013 shall revert to the general fund.

     SECTION 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
