AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN TO CONTINUE ITS STATUTORY DUTIES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. One hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the commission on the status of women for expenditure in fiscal year 2014 to fund the following activities:

                (1) fostering the study and review of the status of women in New Mexico;

                (2) continuing the commission's work of overcoming discrimination against women in public and private employment;

                (3) promoting methods for enabling women to develop their skills, continue their education and be retrained;

                (4) cooperating with and assisting public and private entities relating to women;

                (5) organizing conferences to apprise women of their rights and opportunities and learn from women their needs and challenges;

                (6) continuing the commission's work of securing recognition of women's accomplishments and contributions to the state; and

                (7) researching and planning for programs to meet the needs of displaced homemakers.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2014 shall revert to the general fund.
